Design Guidelines

The purpose of the Design Guidelines is to create a high quality, well built urban environment and to protect and enhance your investment. The guidelines are intended to guide your house design with the following key criteria.

  • Front door visible from the street and weather protected
  • Garage doors facing the street set back so they do not dominate the streetscape
  • Solid fences and walls on the street frontage and between the house wall and street to be avoided
  • Low and permeable (see-through) fencing adjoining reserves and walkways
  • Windows facing street frontage
  • Screening of washing lines, service areas, boats, trailers, work vehicles and campervans
  • Well sited and carefully considered private outdoor space
  • Front yard landscaping should complement the adjoining street and public open space landscaping
  • Height of retaining walls minimised and visual appearance softened
  • Landscape plans submitted with house plans for approval

Early involvement of The Lakes Design Management Committee at concept stage is recommended. We are here to help!
